Laptop Screen Replacement & NVMe Upgrade in Perth – Customer Case Study

The Issue
A Perth customer came to Computer Mechanics needing two upgrades for their laptop: a replacement screen and installation of a second NVMe SSD.
The customer had already purchased the NVMe drive themselves and wanted it installed alongside the screen replacement. Rather than arranging separate services, they wanted both jobs completed by one experienced computer repair provider.
The goal was simple: get the damaged display replaced, add the new storage drive, and have the laptop fully tested and ready to use again.
What We Did:
After inspecting the laptop, our technicians confirmed the requirements for both jobs.
We checked the display compatibility, assessed the laptop’s internal layout and confirmed that the customer-supplied NVMe SSD could be installed in the available slot.
1. Screen Replacement
The laptop was carefully disassembled to access the display assembly.
The damaged screen was removed and replaced with a compatible replacement display. The display connections were securely fitted and checked before the laptop was reassembled.
2. Second NVMe SSD Installation
The customer supplied their own NVMe SSD for the upgrade.
We installed the drive into the laptop’s available NVMe slot and secured it correctly. The system was then checked to confirm that the new drive was detected correctly.
3. Testing & Quality Check
Once both upgrades were complete, the laptop was fully reassembled and tested.
We checked that:
- The replacement screen was displaying correctly
- The new NVMe SSD was recognised by the system
- The laptop powered on and operated normally
- Internal components and connections were properly secured
- The laptop was ready to be returned to the customer
The Result
The customer had both requested upgrades completed in a single visit.
- Damaged laptop screen successfully replaced
- Customer-supplied NVMe SSD professionally installed
- New storage drive detected and tested
- Laptop fully reassembled and functionally tested
- Both repairs completed through one service
