If you’ve priced up a memory upgrade lately, brace yourself. A global RAM shortage — driven largely by AI data centres soaking up chip supply — has sent memory prices climbing hard through 2026. A 32GB DDR5 kit that cost around $100–$200 back in October last year is now starting closer to $350, and major laptop brands including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer and Asus have already flagged price rises of 15–30% as a result. Industry analysts aren’t expecting things to ease before 2027.
