  • 2009 WA Barista, Latte Art and Cupping Championships

That's the event name; I would have called it The Coffee Competition but I'm weird like that. Nov 22 and 23, Mt Hawthorn Community Hall, 197 Scarborough Beach Road, Mt Hawthorn. Entry is free for spectators. If you have questions, phone Ben on 0439 511 881. Do not phone Computer Mechanics. We just drink the stuff. Source.

Review: Dell 1K laptop

Dell Mini 12. Nice big screen, cheap as chips but you should run it with XP, not Vista. Well that's what The Australian says.

Grunt & Glamour Laptops

PC Mag has reviewed six notebooks that are stylish as well as performish. The Gateway is not available in Aust. (if you buy online you may have warrantee problems) but the Toshiba Qosmio and HP Pavilion can be bought here. So can the Voodoo Envy which we intend buying because we like the name.

Obama spam

Lookout for emails promising a video of the Obama acceptance speech. Clicking the link will install malware. Often the sender address will be spoofed to look like a major media outlet. As always, ignore unsolicited email from untrusted sources. Sources.

Lonely?

Well I don't care how desperate you are. When you get the latest spam saying 'I am a charming, blue-eyed blonde who wants to virtual chat with an intelligent man', remember that clicking on the link in the email will prove you are not an intelligent man. QED.

Tenori-On

The Tenori-On is Yamaha's new hybrid Midi musical instrument video display if that makes any sense. Better you look at the luminous video Marc Adamo made with it. Toshio Iwai invented it. He created ElectroPlankton for the DS. You probably knew.

Flip Video

This is the pants in low end (~$260) video cameras. Easy to use, even for low end (~90IQ)brains. In the words of TheFamousStacie, 'I totally recommend this camera'. I don't know if she's really famous; I'd never heard of her.
